Notes
from the Webmaster
If you spend much time on our website you will notice changes as the various branches update their calendars, add new pages, and revitalize their information.
Sometimes you may not notice subtle changes. For instance, the coat of arms and name of the website just became a little smaller. The menu has changed, new pages are being added, and some older ones are being retired. Some of the changes are in response to member requests, and others due to our changing Clan Association and Museum environment.
About six months ago the Museum debuted a new website done in a new technology for us, WordPress. Morrigan Alcorn McIlhenny did the heavy lifting, designing and creating all of the pages. For many years the CMA Website provided the forms and processing for donations to the Museum Trust and Endowment, as well as the Friends and Guardians programs. That was all transferred to the new Museum website. And in addition a new program, Adopt an Artefact, was inaugurated and is processed on the new website.
I am happy to see the new Museum website thrive and grow. With the approval of our chairman, I have removed the CMA website section which we called the Museum pages. Instead we have a new link on our main menu which takes us to the Museum website itself. The advantage to our CMA website visitors is that when they visit the Museum website they will have the most up to date Museum information.
You may ask, "What is next for the CMA website?" I am glad to respond. We are planning a WordPress version of our current website. A new website for a new Webmaster. Chris Smith will be standing for election in August for CMA Webmaster, and I will become his assistant for a year. Chris will be creating the WordPress website with my help.
If you are rejoicing at my coming retirement, you will be disappointed. I will continue as Content Editor for the US Branch for as long as they will have me.
Yours Aye!
Dave
