The Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch holds three main events each year - a Burns Night Supper (January/February), a Summer BBQ (June) and an AGM and lunch (October/November). These events are organised by a Committee who meet three times a year, in January, March and September.
If you have never been to a Branch event before, don't be shy: we will make a point of looking out for you, and will make you most welcome.
If you are interested in attending any of our events, please contact the Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch Treasurer, .
We are of course living in unprecedented times with no way of knowing what events will still be able to take place in 2021. The committee made the decision not to hold the BBQ in June 2020 and had to also take the decision to cancel the Social Event in September 2020 in Kingussie. Your Chairman and the committee are here to support our members throughout the current situation.
We are endeavouring to audit our membership contact details and will be taking the time during the rest of 2020 to contact anyone who has not responded to the newsletter request for their current contact details. We would be very grateful indeed if you could spare the time to either email (or call) our Secretary, Iris Macpherson, on SandNI.Secretary@clan-macpherson.org or 01674 673569 to let her know your postal address, email address and telephone number. If we don't have the correct details for you, you will miss out on receiving our informative newsletters and fliers and details of not only Scottish Branch events but also Clan Macpherson Association events and other interesting information including updates from the Clan Museum.
The Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch Burns Supper is a highlight of our calendar. We are privileged to have amongst our Branch members a wealth of talented speakers and pipers all of whom make for an invigorating evening. Our Burns Suppers are usually held in late January/early February. Although we were hoping to hold this event in January at the Huntingtower Hotel, we have recently taken the decision to cancel the event and instead hold an event later on in the Spring, covid restrictions willing. A copy of our Winter Newsletter (sent out to all branch members by email or post) can be downloaded from here.
The Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch Summer BBQ is usually held at Newton Castle, Blairgowrie, Perthshire - the home of Cluny, our Chief. This is a wonderful day out for all the family. A superb setting, a delicious BBQ lunch followed by fun and games in the garden. We have races for every age including the famous 'Egg and Spoon Race' with raw eggs! We welcome young and old to this most enjoyable event. Full details of the event will follow nearer the time.
Each year we endeavour to hold our Autumn Social Event in a different venue in Scotland to ensure that members have the opportunity to attend this friendly event. Our 2019 Social Event was held in Edinburgh and our 2020 Autumn Social Event would have been held at the Highland Wildlife Park, Kingussie if Covid19 restrictions had not forced us to cancel the event. Instead we held an on line AGM which was well attended. We hope to hold our 2021 Social Event at the Highland Wildlife Park, Kingussie and full details will be published nearer the time.
