News From The Canadian Branch
Updated December 2, 2017
Ed Smith Elected Branch Chairman
Ed Smith was elected once again to lead our Branch. Ed did a great job organizing our Gathering this year. He also represented Clan Macpherson at several highland games in Ontario, some of them new to our Clan. He is backed up by a new Council including some who are new to Branch governance and are very enthusiastic. We wish Ed and the 2018 Council the best of luck and every success in the coming year.
Canadian Branch Reorganizes
The Canadian Branch now has six Regions across the country designed to serve our members better with local events and improved communications with Council. Serving our membership across the breadth of Canada continues to be a problem that we want to solve as a national organization. The member survey conducted last winter and spring pointed the way for Council to make this move and others to come.
68th Annual Gathering
The Branch Annual Gathering this year was a great affair with some innovations that added to the success. This was the first time we had on-line registration using PayPal. We had a learned after dinner speaker on the subject of Scottish history followed by two of our long time members presenting topics of interest to members of Clan Macpherson. There was an excellent outdoor luncheon hosted by our former Branch Secretary at his lovely home in Brantford – a fitting conclusion to a wonderful weekend.
We are now looking forward to next year and greater things to come.
