Chairman's closing address

Due to the on-going Covid19 pandemic, this AGM had to be held very differently. I am very grateful to our Association Chairman, Bill Macpherson, for all his help in ensuring the online AGM ran smoothly and I would like to thank all those branch members who took the time to attend.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee members for all they do to keep the branch running and for all their help in organising our three key branch events. We send our thanks and best wishes to Mary McPherson and Hugh Smith, both of whom are retiring from the committee, and extend a very warm welcome to Helen Barton and Alice MacPherson who we welcome as new committee members.

My final and biggest thanks goes to Rory McPherson, our outgoing Chair, who has been a committed and dedicated leader. Rory brought with him many new initiatives, including the popular Christmas Card and photo competition as well as hosting a very interesting visit to the SSC Library for the Branch AGM in 2019. We will miss Rory’s enthusiasm and knowledge of ‘all things Scottish’ and we wish him well in the future.

I am absolutely delighted to have been elected as your Chairman and I very much look forward to meeting our members once again in 2021. We hope that our members in Scotland and Northern Ireland remain safe and sane.
