Strategic Plan 2026 - 2030

The Objectives of CMA (Canada) are identified in our Constitution:

  1. To promote and foster the Clan spirit and the life of the Clan in Canada, to provide a focal point for, and a means of expressing Clan sentiment, and to keep Clansmen in touch with one another in Canada and abroad.
  2. To encourage and promote the study and preservation of the history, folklore, literature, music, treasure and traditions of the Clan Macpherson and such other objectives as may be of common interest to the Members.
  3. To Support the Clan Macpherson Association in Scotland.

Approved at the 2025 Annual General Meeting, the Strategic Plan of the Canadian Branch of the Clan Macpherson Association aims to boost membership and further our objectives by promoting and enhancing the value that membership brings.

To this end, Council has undertaken the following strategy.

A. Recognize Key Areas of Interest Among Current and Potential Members

Starting in the 2026 calendar year, these areas of interest are identified as:

  1. Clan Events
  2. Clan History and Heritage
  3. Genetics, Genealogy, and Lineage
  4. Gaelic Learning
  5. Traditional Arts and Culture

Council acknowledges that this list may evolve over time.

B. Re-align Council Portfolios to the Areas of Interest

Council members will take on one or more portfolios to organize events, materials, and other valuable opportunities for members in their area of interest, with the support of the whole Council team.

Regional representation has been preserved where it continues to be effective. The Executive Committee remains as specified in the Constitution.

C. Authorize Strategic Council Actions

Council will:

  1. Expand scope, methods, and frequency by which members may participate
  2. Explore and develop funding opportunities to improve access
  3. Streamline and optimise business processes
  4. Expand outreach to and partnerships with allied organisations and businesses
  5. Prioritise activities for younger members and potential members
